Sebastian Kneipp
Sebastian Kneipp is considered as the originator of the Kneipp therapy and the "father" of the modern holistic therapy. Born in Stefansried in the Bavarian Allgäu on 17th May, 1821, working hard and suffering from tuberculosis when still a child, he nonetheless went his way and became a priest.
In 1848 he overcame his disease by a self-developed "cold-water therapy". He came to Wörishofen in 1855 and before he died in 1897, he made this small village world-renowned through his therapy principle in less than ten years. After initial rejection, the Kneipp therapy has now, after 100 years, found its firm and acknowledged place in the medical field.
